| | The Black Keys. Oh yeah. | ] | The new semester has begun and it's almost back to normal with work. We worked over the break of course, and this semester we prepared an orientation meeting (complete with free food!) for the student employees so everyone's on the same page about lateness, timecards, the rules, etc. so the place should be running smoothly for the semester if everyone "does their little private parts" to keep it organized and functioning. Hafuckinha.
And again, I got a f'd up schedule, because they need me to work Wed night, and Saturday all day, which is fine except that I still have two classes on Wednesday, though one is just a meeting really, but classes now start at 9 instead of 10, so I'm here from 9am to 10pm, but not at all on Mon, Tues, or Friday. Of course I will have to be here physically at various times, but I kinda make my own schedule working on this big project for my senior level classes (wisely, I found a project I can do here in the facility instead of in the field...makes logistics easier without compromising the quality or my interest in the project).
(these guacamole chips don't taste much like guacamole...)
Not looking too forward to my Thursday class, because I don't appreciate the teaching style of the instructor, but it's my last required class...so I'll have to deal. I kinda know what he'll be expecting, just not sure I want to put in the time to learn stuff outside of class that I feel he should be teaching us. He could at least answer questions in class - he believes there ARE dumb questions, and that most of them are dumb, and that you are dumb if you have to ask a clarifying question. He makes this clear in not so many words of course, and I can see where that requires students to bring their brains with them to class, but jeez. No need to be a dick about it. I think the kids who are college-aged accept this better than I do; I'm over 30, ok? there's no need to treat me like an insolent child.
Not making much headway in my 2-year plan to eradicate procrastination from my personality. It's all I can do to cycle enough laundry to dress myself. Now that school is starting however, I'm going to kick it into gear with the getting up early (earlier than my sister) every day, exercising regularly, limiting TV in the evening, and cutting WAY down on the smoking. I can do all this, but not if I'm going to let myself slip for more than 2 consecutive days. Hey, ya gotta have a weekend. Another resolution: see more shows/concerts! |

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot Chocolate for sure, esp. with Bailey's in it.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Tons of wrapping paper
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? I prefer colors.
4. Do you hang mistletoe? Nope. Wore it on my belt buckle once...
5. When do you put your decorations up? I try to get someone else to do it.....
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? mashed potatos.
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child: After opening presents, and before getting up to clear the mess and get dressed - just that general feeling of satisfaction
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I guess I was about 8-ish? My friend told me, and when I asked mom, she gave me that big long story about how it was the spirit of christmas and giving that lives on forever, even without an actual Santa flying around. I assumed it was the same thing with Jesus walking on water.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? All of 'em except what's in the stocking. Gotta draw the line somewhere...
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? Again, someone else...I don't mind dragging it up from the basement, and the lights stay on there while it's in storage.
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? As soon as it's off the streets, off my porch, and if they ever plow my parking area, I like it.
12. Can you ice skate? Use'ta-could. (that's redneck for no thanks, I'll break my leg)
13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Atari 2600. Of course, that was the year everybody got Intellivision...
14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Being with family.
15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Pound Cake. Pound-a-butter, pounda sugar, pounda flour...
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? X-mas surveys online...not
17. What tops your tree? A star.
18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? Giving.
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Ok, don't judge me til you hear the song: Christmas with the Family by Jill Sobule. I like carol of the bells too.
20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? Bleah. Well, maybe just to stir my hot chocolate... |

| | Hendrix: Star-Spangled Banner | ] | Well the President, is scared of us!...ME and my voting power -- he sent his old pal Rummy packing just this morning, as a political olive branch to the uprising of Dems from across the country, with a little old lady from California leading the pack, calling for poor Rummy's head to be brought to the chopping block.
Excuse my "French", but it's about fuckin time somebody got scapegoated. If I don't hear the word "impeach" pretty soon, I'm sending that down-payment on the summer home in Canada...

It's kinda late to remind you, but I trust we all remembered to do our little private parts for the good of the country and vote for a Democratic candidate for US Congress or Senate, as applies in your respective Districts.
As we say in Chicago, "Vote early and vote often!"
When I die, I want to be buried in Chicago, so I can stay active politically... |

and when you are in your office with the door purposely shut almost all the way instead of wide open like it usually is, do people still push in with silly questions and pointless commentary? Do I have to barricade it to maintain my sanity? I'll put up a sign that says "I'm in NO mood" |

Why oh freakin WHY couldn't I just be happy with the life of a faceless schlub in a massive insurance company dragging ass to work 39 hours a week with a 2 hour lunch every Friday??
I can't fully function in an environment that demands complex thought and mental acuity!!! I'm OLD, dammit!!!
Shoot me NOW!
and why are there so many selections in the pull-down for "mood" but none ever quite fit? I should type in "Mood: Marvin the Paranoid Android Mode" shall I?
Mid-terms suck sometimes, what can I say? Lay down homage to the god of "partial credit" and move on... |

| | Big Lizard in my Backyard | ] | An alternative beach song for this chilly October day:
The sand is hurting my tender feet, The air smells like rotting fish and solarcain, I hate the people on the beach, With their towels and umbrellas their so, insane.
I hate my girlfriend, she she she lies on the beach like a barrier reef soaking up the stupid sun, while the radio is blasting "Fun, Fun, Fun"
I don't wanna be on the beach - no fun I don't wanna be on the beach - no fun I don't wanna be on the beach - no fun, no!
This is no way to spend the summer! I've got sand caked on my feet! I gave my ice cream to a shark, and now I've got nothing to eat!
Happy sour grapes from the Dead Milkmen |
